In 2023, Qingsong Fan joined the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral researcher in the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, working under Professor Po-Chun Hsu. His research focuses on developing an artificial ground cover with high radiative cooling performance to help preserve glaciers and permafrost, using environmentally friendly chemicals and materials.

Prior to this role, Qingsong earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside, where he studied the synthesis and self-assembly of inorganic nanomaterials.
